Specializing in construction recruitment, Abbey Personnel have noticed a large increase in the number of carpenters seeking work in the past year.
Carpentry is a highly in-demand skill. People always need things built, repaired, or renovated in their homes, businesses, and public spaces, meaning it is a trade unlikely to die out. This high demand for carpentry services has attracted more people to enter the profession 👥
Carpentry is very much a skilled trade that requires a certain level of technical expertise and experience, but it does not necessarily require a formal education or degree 👨🎓 This accessibility may make carpentry a more attractive profession for people who may not have the desire to pursue higher education. A lot of people enjoy the idea of getting stuck into work straight away or to begin a hands on apprenticeship, making carpentry the perfect fit for many 😊
Carpentry is a broad field that includes many different specialties such as framing, finishing, cabinetry, and furniture-making. This diversity has made carpentry a more attractive profession for people with different interests and skill sets. No day is ever the same 📆
Despite these increases, there are challenges that carpenters face too. For example, when the economy is struggling there is a decrease in construction projects and therefore a decrease in demand for carpenters and other skilled tradesmen. In some regions, the cold weather also impacts this sector as there are less projects going on during the winter months ❄
We currently have over 60 carpenters out on site and are looking forward to increasing this number!
